I thought, just for a change, I would do a post about make up/beauty products. To be honest, when setting up my blog, I wanted it to be about style AND beauty, hence my blog name, 'Plus Size Beauty'.I really love make up. I dread to think what I spend each month on trying out new products I have seen advertised, or seen on other blogs, or heard about from friends. I turned my love of make up into a (short) career. I worked for a couple of cosmetic companies, where I did a couple of make up courses, and learnt a lot about make up application. (I was one of those annoying orange girls often found in department stores, trying to sell EVERYTHING) I started out doing a few beauty posts in the beginning, but I just stopped, I guess this is because I feel like there are loads of really excellent beauty blogs already out there, and wasn't too sure what I could contribute. So, after a small hiatus, I decided I would do a make up post!
I wasn't too sure what to title this. These are a few products I love at the moment. Things I use if not every day, most days.

I picked up this fragrance for £5 in the sale at Boots a couple of months ago. It is a very floral, almost granny like fragrance. I love really overly floral perfumes. It smells quite strong in the bottle, but once on it is light, fresh and summery. It is a blend of musk, rose and jasmine, topped with notes of pepper and bergamot. The bottle is really pretty - It is covered in butterflies!
I have always worn a very heavy foundation. I have some kind of weird acne on one side of my cheek, and do suffer from the occasional break out, especially on the T zone. When I was on holiday recently, I thought to myself 'why do I need such heavy make up, just to go to work, or go to Tesco?' The answer was, I don't! I opted for this tinted moisturiser as it was cheap, and I get on really well with Nivea products. This one is lovely and light. I find it moisturises really well, and makes me look fresh faced, without looking overly made up. I tend to pair this with a pressed powder, or the Collection 2000 mineral powder, also in the photo. I have also discovered the joy of mixing foundations lately too, so when I want a 'medium' coverage, I will simply mix this with one of my heavier foundations.
I love this vaseline, as it gives a very subtle wash of colour and is really moisturising on the lips (as all vaseline is!)
This MUA eyeshadow is really excellent. I was dubious to begin with, as the whole MUA range is only £1, but after trying it, I was really impressed. I use this white colour as a simple highlight, and a tiny bit in the corners of my eyes to open up my eyes more (thanks to Jess for the recommendation!) I also have a taupey brown colour from the range, and that too is really good. And for only £1, it's silly not to try them out!
I spotted this gel liner whilst out shopping when it was launched, and instantly fell in love with it. Since I have been doing my make up, I have always worn black eyeliner along the lower lash line. It doesn't look right if I don't! I would normally line my lower lash line with Barry M liner, then apply this over the top. It comes with a little brush that is pretty good for a 'free' brush. It lasts for AGES. It makes my eye make up look a lot neater and more defined. It is also really good on the top lash line too. I really hope they bring this out in more colours soon! Some nice bright colours would be good...
Hair powder is AMAZING. I discovered a more expensive one at my hairdressers a while back, and found an equivalent to it by Lee Stafford in Boots. However, a few more hair companies have started releasing them now. I tried the Got2Be one too, which was also good, but had a strange smell? (though this could have been me!) I got this VO5 one in Superdrug. It's so simple to use. You just sprinkle it on dry hair, and kind of lift and rub into the hair to produce MASSIVE volume. It gives my short hair so much texture, without looking greasy, or clogged up with product. It also works on long hair. If you love massive, volumised hair, I recommend you try this out!
I saw this eyeshadow primer when it was first released, and after swatching it, I knew I would go back and buy it. It's a really nice subtle goldy brown colour. It can be worn alone, with eyeshadow, or as a highlighter. It looks especially lovely with brown and gold eyeshadows, it helps eyeshadow stay on longer and makes colour look more vibrant. I don't see why it couldn't be used as a highlight on cheekbones too!
Whilst searching for a peach blush in Boots a few weeks ago, I came across this blush by Models Own. It gives a really pretty glow to the cheeks, without looking too obvious or made up. Very good value for money at £5!
Oh Collection 2000, why did you ever discontinue this?! I have only tried a few mineral make ups, but this is by far my favourite. You can wear it alone, over foundation or over tinted moisturiser. I like it because for a mineral make up, it gives quite a full coverage. It makes my skin look super healthy and glow-y. Unfortunately, the only place to buy it now is Ebay :-(
Sleek eyeshadow pallettes are bargainous. £6.49 for 12 eyeshadows, all of which are excellent quality. The pigment is brilliant, and very easy to blend. There are lots of different palettes to choose from, ranging from acid brights to darker colours. My personal favourite is the 'storm' palette. I find it ideal for taking away for a weekend, as you can create a natural look for the daytime, and then a smokey look for the evening.

The first thing I noticed about the dress is the quality of the material. It's a really heavy, really well made garment. I love the way it was quite flowy on the bottom - it felt very luxurious. The material is also very smooth. I was worried it might be a bit clingy on my stomach, but this was not the case. It smoothed over my stomach and gave me a nice, smooth silhouette.
